This year, you’ve probably got more than one person on your list that’s making an effort to go green. Why not get them a few gifts in support of their resolution?
When shopping for eco friendly gifts, keep in mind that these could be several different things.
It could be an item made from recycled or organic goods, or it could be something made locally as it didn’t use gas to get to the store and it will positively affect the local economy, and finally, you could purchase items to help the person be more eco-friendly, such as gardening tools or a compost bin. Items purchased from secondhand stores are also eco-friendly, because a new product wasn’t produced.
Items made from recycled or organic goods might include soy candles, stationary sets made from recycled paper or plant-able seed paper, recycled platters for food and entertaining, organic bedding, or natural wood bowls for the kitchen or for decorating.
Locally made goods to consider would be a painting or a photograph from a local artist, handmade jewelry, or even a service from a small business (a manicure from an independent technician).
Products that will help the person in their eco-friendly endeavors include a bicycle, composting pail, gardening kits and seeds, a solar tea lantern, reusable grocery bags, a bird feeder, or energy saving plugs and adapters.
Other gift ideas include bath towels or a bathrobe made from organic cotton, recycled glass products such as wine glasses or vases, you could even purchase a cloth diaper starter kit for the eco-friendly mother on your list.
Make these eco-friendly gifts extra personal by walking or riding your bike to purchase them. Of course, make sure to wrap them in recycled paper or reuse the comics section of your local newspaper. The green guru in your life will appreciate your extra efforts.
